According to a report in the FT today the solar energy sector will grow from $20B in 2006 to $90B in 2010. That's 145% a year. To put that in context eBay's been growing at c60% a year. In fact, in Fortune's list of fastest growing companies in 2006, the fastest revenue growth recorded (annual average of last 3 years) was 126%.

And yet in the UK, trying to get solar panels on your flat or house is like pushing treacle up a hill. Those who wish to change to solar energy are faced with two major hurdles. Bureaucracy and cost. On the second point, supposed government support in part financing such a switch to solar energy is actually pitiful.
