Stop Press

Guardian article came out today (Monday 19th) which extensively quotes yours truly and the new book. It's quite a tough line they are taking on greenwash, but that's pretty much the main debate of the moment in advertising and media circles and it's certainly worth remembering that NGOs do have sharp teeth when it come to that kind of thing. And the positive message and examples are in there too. Anyway it's great to be out in the open, especially in the paper I actually read most of the time :J

Very nice article. The Green marketing Highs and Lows were very informative. Do you think cafés will ever penalise customers who don't finish their food? I noticed a chinese buffet in Soho that fines customers who leave a certain amount of food on their plate. Maybe thats a small start...

My local Chinese (Zen) does something similar - it has an all you can eat fixed price buffet, but if you dont finish any dish then you get charged extra in full. ie it might have to be part of the pricing model as a whole. Incidentally she must have got that from something I said in the book (I wrote about a fictitious cafe called mao) i talked about food waste in the interview but more in a homes throwing away 13% of food that they buy context.

was a good article. I am actually applying for a job as a reporter covering sustainability in the building design and construction trades. I wondered whether you, John, or any readers had anecdotes, opinions, heroes and villains about 'greenwash' in that industry to share with me ... mnwilloughby (at) gmail (dot) com
